Baby Swings!

It was a gorgeous, sunny, WARM day yesterday! We took Sky to the park to try out the "baby swings" for the first time. I thought for sure he would fit in it just fine but he is still so little! He liked it though! There were also some mini-hydro races happening on the lake so he had fun watching those go. :) On a downer note, Lily rolled in something NASTY and stunk up the entire car for the rest of our outing then proceeded to howl and bark in the backyard once we got home because she couldn't come inside...so gross. Goodwill Finds

Yesterday we went to the new Goodwill in Monroe. Josh had been in once before but this was my first time...there is lots of junk...but some cool stuff hidden in there. It's fun to look around and try to spot something cool. After spending only $7 total, I came out with 3 things - a wreath (that i'm going to spruce with with berries and other things for fall), a vintage wire metal bucket, and another vintage metal tray that has holes in it for something...i'm guessing glasses? Either way, think it would work so cute at a party to hold silverware and all the other STUFF! I'm going to spray paint the 2 wire pieces (I got "avocado" spray paint at Fred Meyer) so stay tuned for an "after" shot of my creations.

Happy Fall!

Fall has officially arrived and after all this time, I've decided that 2010 is year I will officially declare it as my favorite season. :) Every year, fall comes...and I love it a lot....and I think, "maybe this is my favorite season"....and then I think, "that's silly, spring or summer should be my favorite because that's when it's sunny!". But, there is no more denying that I really love and welcome fall. I love the colors...in fact, I decorate in fall colors year round. I love the food....pumpkins, squash, sweet potatoes, CANDY CORN, turkey, bread, cranberry sauce, oh my! I love that I can wear cushy socks and puffy vests. I love that all the seasonal coffee drinks come out {hello pumpkin spice latte}! I love that the mornings are crispy but it can still be sunny and gorgeous {most days}, and I love the way all the plants look. As we speak, the garden is winding down; everything is still massive but floppy, there are only a few flowers here and there but the leaves are starting to change into crazy colors, the rose hips are out, the seed pods are dangling off everything, and every square inch is dripping with dewey spiderwebs. Maybe I've decided fall is my favorite this year because I'm so excited for Sky to get to experience the pumpkin patch, leaves, and the outdoors in general this time of year. We are so lucky to live where we do...it's just too gorgeous! Here is some fall inspiration to get you in the mood:

Pondering a Playroom

Our downstairs basement is one big open room. Currently, it is home to the TV, entertainment center, and couch on one side and….randomness on the other; a bookshelf, some chairs, an old wood chest, pictures that still need to be hung on the wall - you get the idea! I really want to give Sky a spot to spread out. As he gets older (and the toys accumulate) he needs a spot to call his own! Not to mention the downstairs is much “safer” – carpet instead of hardwood, no stairs to fall down, limited breakable items. We already have some trofast storage from Ikea, a small chocolate storage ottoman, and a cute kids rocking chair that we painted blue. I'm thinking....a cute rug, lots of floor pillows (that are washable), more storage, and art cable, a renovated toy box (from the old wood chest we have), maybe a funky lamp, an easel, perhaps a low activity table? The possibilities are endless! I'm guessing this will all depend on what Ikea presents to me next time I visit. :)
