Summer has officially arrived and it was time for a mini staycation to celebrate the 4th of July. Even though Josh had to work 3 out of the 4 days, we made the best of it. I spent some quality time with my little man and a good time was had by all! Warning: there are lots of pictures in this post.
On Friday, I took Sky to Country Village in Bothell to get his haircut {which they cut a little too short!}. We took a ride on the train and had a picnic in the grass. Sky is addicted to sun chips. His other new favorite thing {now that he can walk finally} is to go outside….like ALL the time….especially right when he wakes up. As long as he can wear his rain boots, it’s all good.
Like the day before, Saturday started with a morning jaunt outside. Jammies, boots, hoodie, and a sun hat was what Sky requested. I let him dress himself these days. We hung out at home the rest of the day. My mom came over to visit and help watch Sky so I could get some much important stuff done around the house, mainly in the garden. She even brought dinner! She’s awesome. It was super hot and sunny so Sky had a fun time in his kiddie pool – let’s just say the naked pictures melt my heart – can’t wait to use those as blackmail one day!
On Sunday, I met up with my friend AnnMarie. We don’t get together nearly enough and it was so nice to hang out and wear the kids out. We had lunch in Woodinville, played at the park, and walked along the Burke Gilman trail. Tired babies! The day ended with another walk in the yard where Sky’s other new obsession is picking strawberries….even if they are green. He checks the bush each time he goes outside, as if somehow they would magically ripen in the hour since he last checked!
Now for Monday, the grandest day of all, and the real 4th of July. Josh had the day off and we packed it full. We started off with some pictures in the yard. Hard to get a decent shot!
Next, it was off to the parade and festivities in Carnation. Maybe it had something to do with being on the front page of the Seattle Times but there seemed to be a lot more people this year! It’s funny how people come from all over…makes me a little proud that it’s my actual hometown. We walked Sky in the kiddie parade {in his awesome wagon} and he got such a kick out of the real parade, especially all the trucks and the tootsie pop he somehow acquired. Both of our families came and it was just a wonderful time all around. I think the 75 degree weather helped too.
We capped the night off BBQ style with our neighbor friends. Their son is only 2 months younger than Sky so it’s fun to see them play together. The water table was a hit! And of course, no 4th of July is complete without s’mores and sparklers. What a weekend!!!!!

Beautiful everything!

Hahaha! I remember being in Carnation once. I was trying to find a place in Bellevue, got lost and an hour later say a sign telling me I was in Carnation. Doh! Love all these adorable pictures. Especially of your little guy. The lollipop pic is my fave.
