This past Sunday, Josh and I celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary. Each year, we try to go away and do something fun. Last year, we went to Coupeville. This year, I planned a trip for us to Alderbrook Resort, behind Josh's back, hehehehe….don’t worry, he was super excited. To make the deal even sweeter, my dad let us drive his convertible! Lucky for us, Sunday was one of the nicest days of the summer {if you wanna call this summer} and we had a gorgeous drive all the way out to hood canal. Of course, you have to sport the hair coverage if you’re drivin’ with the top down!

On the way over, we stopped at Kopachuck State Park for lunch. I saw some pretty pictures on Mandy’s blog and since we were driving that way, I was excited to stop and check it out. Little did I know {until we got there….} that I have been here before. It was when I was younger but it all came flooding back as soon as we got in the parking lot. We had a nice Subway lunch and walk through the woods….it was surprisingly empty, just a few sunbathers!
Know what else is super beautiful? Gig Harbor!! What a CUTE CUTE town! I’ve never really driven THROUGH the town but it’s so lovely….lots of pretty houses and um….a harbor…with boats…and parks…and OUTDOOR movies of all things!

Alderbrook is in the town of Union. From our house, roughly a 2 hour and 17 minute drive….it’s really not far but you feel like you are really away from the everyday blah, which I like in a stay-cation. As soon as we got there we headed to……drumroll……….the BAR. A quick drink and it was time for our couples massage….ooooh lala! We’ve never done this before and Josh was commenting how he wanted a massage so I booked it! It was kind of awkward being massaged together in total silence, LOL. I always feel like I should make small talk with the masseuse but they didn’t seem to into chatting so we just zoned out instead. Regardless, it was super relaxing. I REALLY loved the hot stones…I’d never had them before but I’m a total fan now.

Here is a quick video Josh took with his iPhone of the grounds…it’s so pretty here:
After our massage, we walked out on the dock and soaked up the sun until dinner time. I’m in awe of this giant yellow ball in the sky since we’ve seen so little of it this year….so, I just sat there, in the sun, getting a little burnt, a good way to spend an afternoon.

One thing I was SUPER excited for on this trip was to eat consecutive meals in a row together….while the food was warm….with no baby interrupting or throwing food.
On the left we have crab cakes and on the right we have grilled mahi mahi….yum! With dinner, we had the best drinks EVER…..seriously the best Mojito I’ve EVER tasted {it was Josh’s….} and a really yummy Margarita. The sandwich/soup photos are of our lunch the next day, actually taken at Gilberts Deli in Downtown Bellevue. We stopped here on the way home and because it was POURING RAIN, we both had soup. My first ever Matzo Ball soup and I liked it! Yeahhhhh.

When we weren’t eating, we were just chilaxin. There are fire pits all over and big lounge chairs so there was a lot of just….sitting, which I’m totally into. Since the Northwest can’t give us two perfect days in a row….Monday {the day we came home} was completely COLD and RAINY. We had to drive with the top up on the way home and I forgot pants so I was chilly {meaning I had shorts on…not just NO pants}, and was once again depressed at the lack of any sort of warm weather or this season called “summer”. Overall, it was still a great trip! You should go if you live in the area!
