This year, Easter weekend graced us with SUN and 60 degree weather all weekend. I could hardly believe that beautiful blue Sky, it seemed so foreign! It also gave us Sky’s very first Easter egg hunt:

{So many eggs, so little time…}

Sky had a great time. We talked up the concept of gathering eggs in advance and he carried his little basket the entire car ride to the hunt. The field was divided up by age and not crowded at all for the 1 and 2 year olds. When Sky grabbed his first egg, he went up to a baby and put it in his basket for him – what a sweetie! Overall, he was super well behaved. A really nice change from the entire morning {up until 5 minutes prior to arrival}. Let’s just say it’s been a loooong weekend and his behavior is an entirely different post.

Easter morning, it was just Sky and I while Josh was at work. Sky managed to find nearly all of his Easter eggs within 10 minutes, promptly loaded up on chocolate, and then protected the rest of his jellybeans like they were babies in his cheerio cup. I know a lot of people put non-sugar things in their eggs {crackers, cereal, toys, etc} but my kid REALLY loves chocolate so we indulge a few times a year.

In the afternoon, we headed to my Grandma’s house for dinner and to visit. My sweet gram has been in the hospital for a week and a half and was finally discharged on Friday. She’s now in a nursing/rehab facility for 2 more weeks and they let us take her for 4 hours. We weren’t sure if Easter would really happen or if she would be well enough to get together so dinner was a bit of an afterthought: crock pot meatballs, baked yams/potatoes, asparagus, rolls fruit, and watergate salad {made by me}…because apparently I’m 90 and love any kind of “salad” that involves pudding or jello. It was so nice to see Grandma but I worry for her. Time will tell but I’m sure hoping she starts improving and feeling like her old feisty self again.

{Linking up with Mandy at Harper’s Happenings! On me: Cardigan/Gap via Goodwill and the rest is missing but I’m wearing jeans and flats from DSW. On Sky: Shirt/Gift, Pants/Thrifted from a friend, Shoes/Oscar the Grouch New Balance from eBay. On Josh: Shirt/Urban Outfitters.}

After dinner, we walked off our calories by taking Sky on a little bike ride through the neighborhood. If it’s sunny, you just HAVE TO be outside….even if you don’t want to be. That’s just the way it is here in the Pacific Northwest. Take it when you can get it! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend!
